The majority of all rums are made from molasses and have the typical, full-bodied sweetness of molasses. This is not the case with rhum agricole, which is made from sugar cane juice and has a more vegetal aroma. Young rums shine with a powerful freshness, whereas they become softer and more complex through barrel ageing.
